Puch Maxi Sprocket Ratios

If you ride a Puch Maxi, you know that gear ratios play a big role in how your moped performs.
Whether you're aiming for top speed, torque, or a comfortable all-round setup, the right combination of front and rear sprockets makes all the difference.

Standard Sprocket Ratio

The original factory setup of a Puch Maxi is usually:

  • Front sprocket: 15 teeth

  • Rear sprocket: 45 teeth

That gives a 1:3 ratio – ideal for everyday use, offering a good balance of pulling power and top speed.

What happens if you change the ratio?

By changing the sprockets, you can tune your moped to fit your riding style:

  • More teeth in the front (e.g. 16T or 17T)

    • Higher top speed

    • Less torque

  • Fewer teeth in the front (e.g. 13T or 14T)

    • More torque

    • Lower top speed

  • Fewer teeth in the rear (e.g. 42T or 40T)

    • Higher speed

    • Less low-end power

  • More teeth in the rear (e.g. 48T or 50T)

    • A lot of torque

    • Lower top speed
